American Airlines continues to expand its presence across the Atlantic, announcing the launch of three new European destinations for summer 2024, along with the return of popular seasonal routes. Throughout next summer’s peak, American will fly 67 flights per week from 17 European cities to 11 U.S. destinations.
From Campania to Copenhagen, and nearby to Cannes
Starting between May and June 2024, American will offer seasonal nonstop service from Philadelphia (PHL) to three European cities – Nice (NCE), Copenhagen (CPH) and Naples (NAP). American will also become the only airline connecting PHL and NCE, making it even easier to explore the French Riviera.
With service to more than 70 domestic destinations from PHL, American offers convenient one-stop access for customers across the country to Europe.

“We are thrilled to be introducing three new European summer destinations in 2024, catering to the increasing demand for flights between the U.S. and Europe over the summer period,” said Kyle Mabry, American’s Vice President – Operations and Commercial, EMEA and APAC. “All three new destinations offer a rich, diverse experience for travellers. Whether they’re looking to explore the coastal scenery of the Riviera, bask in the natural beauty of the Nordic region, or simply seeking to enjoy Aperol and pizza with Vesuvius as a backdrop. Or for those travelling from Europe to the States for summer, Philadelphia provides the perfect gateway to explore a vast range of destinations, all providing a different sense of adventure.”
Connecting the Windy City to the City of Water
For the first time since 2019, American will once again connect the Windy City with the City of Water, returning daily service between Chicago (ORD) and Venice (VCE). Complementing existing service between PHL and VCE, service from ORD will allow customers increased schedule flexibility and connect to more than 100 domestic destinations.

“Key summer hot spots such as Barcelona and Venice are growing in popularity among U.S. travellers,” added Kyle. “We’re pleased to be able to offer an even greater network to sunny European destinations next summer, opening the world up to even more adventures across the Atlantic.”
